I gave up. I cannot grow my hair anymore.
“Growing my hair is something I’ve always wanted to try”
Christmas 2016, I decided to start growing my hair – It’s something I’ve always wanted to try. It was the perfect time to start! I was getting my hair cut every three months so that it was healthy. A year went by and my hair had grown a lot. I am very lazy with my hair care routine, getting up in the morning to make it look half decent is too much. I’d just shower and shove a hat on… by the time I arrived at work and took the hat off, my hair was a bush. I would convince myself that it looked good, then the next day I would hate it.
“I would convince myself that it looked good, then the next day I would hate it.”
It was driving me insane. The longer my hair grew, the more I hated it. I didn’t have the time or effort to style it properly everyday. Everybody said I should cut it. I rang and told my mum I had booked to get my hair cut and she basically receipted 10 hail Marys… she’s not even religious!
Since moving to London, there’s only one barber shop I go to… Ruffians
“TJ offered to take a before and after picture, because it was a big change.”
Today I visited Ruffians
in Shoreditch, my first visit to this store. Normally I go to Ruffians
in Liberty’s… I like to think I’m boujie! I had my hair cut by TJ. I’m a shy soul, TJ was friendly and really easy to talk to. I’ve booked in with him again in a couple of weeks.
TJ offered to take a before and after picture, because it was a big change. I think I was a little deluded to how bad my hair really looked. That was until I looked at this before picture:
As soon as TJ started cutting my hair, I knew I made the right decision. I looked like shit – let’s be honest! My friends kept telling me I looked like a Disney Prince, this may have pushed me to cut my hair that little bit more!
I feel so much better! There is no better time to have a complete hair change when you’re newly single. I feel a lot more confident with short hair! I love stroking the back of my head after I’ve had a fresh cut. That ripple feeling is truly epic.
“I feel a lot more confident with short hair!”
I am ready to slay the new haircut, slay the gym and slay life. Time to get my confidence back!
What do you guys think? Glad I cut it, or should have kept growing?
